Set up your AI receptionist in 5 minutes, no technical skills needed
“I’m not tech-savvy. Can I really set this up myself?”
This is the number one question we get from service business owners about AI voice agents.
Yes. If you can fill out a form and click a few buttons, you can set this up. No coding. No IT team. No tech degree.
Here’s exactly how it works, step by step.
Why this matters for service business owners
You’re a plumber, HVAC tech, or garage door specialist, not a software developer.
Traditional phone systems required IT consultants ($500-2,000 setup fee), complex equipment installations, multi-day setup processes, and ongoing technical maintenance.
Our AI voice agent requires you, 5 minutes, a web browser, and zero technical knowledge. The entire setup is: fill in forms, click buttons, test call, done.
What you’ll have in 5 minutes
By the end of this walkthrough, you’ll have an AI answering your phone calls, quoting your pricing, booking appointments into your calendar, and handling after-hours calls.
Total time: 5 minutes. Easier than setting up a Facebook page.
The actual 5-minute setup
Minute 1: Sign up and choose agent type. Go to nzleads.com, click “Get Started,” enter your email and create a password, click “Create New Voice Agent,” and choose “Answering Agent” for inbound calls. Just clicking buttons.
Minute 2: Fill in basic info. You’ll see a simple form. Type your company name (like “ABC Plumbing”), an agent name (like “Sarah”), and a custom greeting (like “Thanks for calling ABC Plumbing, this is Sarah. How can I help you today?”). Three text boxes. Like filling out a contact form.
Minute 3: Select voice and configure services. Click “Preview Voices,” listen to a few options, pick one that sounds natural, and click “Select.” Then type in your services (like “Garage door repair, spring replacement, installation”) and add pricing if you want the AI to quote costs (like “Spring replacement: $200”). Still just typing in forms.
Minute 4: Get your phone number. Two options. Easiest: click “Buy New Number,” type your area code, pick a number from the list, click “Purchase” ($10/month). Or keep your existing number: click “Use Call Forwarding,” note the unique forwarding number we give you, and call your phone carrier to set up forwarding (takes about 5 minutes with them).
Minute 5: Test and launch. Click “Activate Agent,” wait 30 seconds for the AI to initialize, call your new number from your cell phone, and have a conversation with your AI. If it sounds good, you’re done.
Total code written: zero.
Our support team has your back
You’re never doing this alone.
Our support team will walk you through setup over Zoom (free), help configure your calendar integration, upload your pricing and services for you, test your agent with you on a live call, and adjust settings based on your feedback.
Average support response time: under 2 hours. Available via email, in-app chat, phone, and Zoom.
After setup, they’re still there. “My AI isn’t quoting prices correctly” and they fix it. “Can you add this new service?” and they do it for you. “I want to change the greeting” and they update it. You don’t need to be technical. If something isn’t working, they fix it, usually within hours.
What real customers say
“I’m 58 years old. I barely use email. I thought setting up an AI would require my nephew who works in IT. I was shocked, it took me 6 minutes and I did it myself. When I got stuck on the calendar part, support jumped on a call and did it for me. Now I answer 100% of my calls.”
Mike’s HVAC (Phoenix, AZ). Setup time: 6 minutes. Support calls needed: 1 (15 minutes).
“I’m not gonna lie, I was intimidated. But the interface looks like any other form you fill out online. The support team even offered to do it for me, but I wanted to try myself. Turned out to be super easy. I was answering calls within 10 minutes.”
Sarah’s Plumbing (Los Angeles, CA). Setup time: 10 minutes. Support calls needed: 0.
“I’ve tried other ‘no-code’ tools that still felt techy. This one is actually no-code. It’s like setting up a Facebook page, just fill in the blanks. And when I wanted to add batch calling later, support set the whole thing up for me in 20 minutes.”
Tom’s Garage Doors (Seattle, WA). Setup time: 8 minutes. Support assistance: multiple times (always helpful).
Making changes later
You have three options and none of them require technical skills.
Do it yourself: log in, click “Edit Agent,” change greeting, pricing, services, whatever you need, click “Save.” Same difficulty as editing a Facebook post.
Ask support to do it: email or chat “Can you change my greeting to X?” and they reply “Done!” Usually under 1 hour.
Jump on a call: schedule 15 minutes with support, walk through changes together while they make updates in real-time.
What runs behind the scenes
You don’t need to know this, but if you’re curious: when you fill out those forms, we’re configuring AI models, setting up voice synthesis, connecting to calendar APIs, routing phone calls, storing call transcripts, and running sentiment analysis.
You interact with simple forms and buttons. We handle the technical stuff. It’s like driving a car. You turn the wheel and press the pedal. You don’t need to understand the engine.
Pricing: no upfront investment
Old-school phone systems charged $1,500-5,000 upfront, $200-500/month in subscriptions, locked you into 1-2 year contracts, and charged extra for changes.
Our AI voice agent: $0 upfront, $1/minute for actual talk time, $10/month for a phone number (optional), cancel anytime with zero commitment.
Example monthly cost: 50 inbound calls at 3 minutes average = 150 minutes x $1 = $150/month, plus $10 for the phone number. Total: $160/month. If you get 5 appointments from those 50 calls at $300 each, that’s $1,500 in revenue against $160 in cost.
Common concerns
“What if I break something?” You can’t. The interface only shows safe options. And if you do mess something up, support fixes it in minutes.
“What if I need to integrate with my [obscure system]?” We integrate with Cal.com, FieldPulse, GoHighLevel, and Zapier (which connects to 5,000+ apps). If you use something else, we’ll help you set up the connection.
“What if my business is unique?” We customize everything. Your business only services luxury homes? We configure that. Special pricing for repeat customers? We handle it. Need the AI to speak Spanish? We can do that too.
“What if support is slow?” In-app chat: under 2 hours (usually under 30 minutes). Email: same day. Urgent issues: prioritized immediately. Plus, most changes you can make yourself in under a minute.
How it compares in difficulty
Setting up an AI voice agent is easier than setting up a WordPress website, configuring an email marketing tool, running Google Ads, or installing a security camera. It’s about as difficult as creating a Facebook business page or ordering something on Amazon.
If you’ve ever used a website, you can do this.
Your 5-minute checklist
- Go to nzleads.com/signup, enter email and password, create account (1 minute)
- Click “Create New Agent,” choose “Answering Agent,” fill in business name, agent name, greeting, select a voice, add services and pricing (2 minutes)
- Buy new number or set up call forwarding (1 minute)
- Click “Activate Agent,” wait for confirmation (30 seconds)
- Call your number and verify it’s working (30 seconds)
Done. You have an AI receptionist.
What happens after setup
In the first 24 hours, the AI starts answering calls immediately. You’ll get email notifications for each call and can review transcripts in your dashboard.
In the first week, monitor call logs for patterns, see what questions customers ask, and add those answers to the knowledge base (or ask support to do it).
In the first month, the AI has answered dozens or hundreds of calls, you’ve captured leads you would’ve missed, and appointments are booking automatically.
Ongoing, support is always available for changes. You can edit settings anytime, add new services, update pricing, or just let it run.
Pricing breakdown by business size
Small business (20-50 calls/month): 40 calls x 3 min = 120 minutes. Cost: $120 + $10 phone = $130/month.
Medium business (50-150 calls/month): 100 calls x 3 min = 300 minutes. Cost: $300 + $10 phone = $310/month.
Busy business (150+ calls/month): 200 calls x 3 min = 600 minutes. Cost: $600 + $10 phone = $610/month.
Compare to hiring a part-time receptionist ($2,000-3,000/month), a traditional phone system ($500+/month with contracts), or an answering service ($300-800/month).
